What We Collect
To create a student profile, we collect only:
- A first name or nickname (can be made up — it just identifies the profile on this device)
- A school grade (1–12)
- A 4-digit PIN chosen by the student or their parent
During learning sessions we also store:
- Questions answered and answers given
- Session scores, skill levels, and progress over time
- Date and time of sessions
- For Speaking sessions: the text transcript of what was spoken — not an audio recording
What We Do NOT Collect
- Email addresses
- Last names or full legal names
- Parent or guardian contact information
- Payment or credit card information
- Advertising identifiers or persistent tracking cookies
- Location or GPS data
- Photos or images
- Social media accounts
- Audio recordings (speech is transcribed in the browser; only the text is transmitted)
How We Use This Data
Session data is used only to:
- Power the adaptive difficulty engine so questions match each student's level
- Generate the per-session AI report card
- Track skill progress over time
- Diagnose and fix technical problems
We do not use student data to train AI models, build advertising profiles, or market to students or families.
AI and Google Gemini
Questions and answer grading use the Google Gemini API. When a question is generated or an answer graded, the relevant text is sent to Gemini. We never include the student's name, grade, or any identifying information in these requests. Gemini receives only the question text and the answer — nothing that could identify the student.
For Speaking sessions, audio is transcribed entirely in the browser using the Web Speech API. Only the resulting text is ever sent to our servers or to Gemini.
Who We Share Data With
- Google Gemini API — for AI question generation and grading (anonymised text only, no student identity)
- Hostinger — our hosting provider, US-based servers only
We do not sell student data. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, analytics companies, or social media platforms.
